Volt has been gestating on Mårten Cyrén’s drawing board for a long time, and he describes the task as both enjoyable and difficult. Mårten wanted to achieve a piece rich in form and decorative detail that works in our streamlined present, without too many historical flourishes. Creating a chandelier just for candles is of course the epitome of nostalgia – the novelty lies in the proportions, the simplified design of the details and the functional adaptation, with wire for easy hanging and height adjustment. The low height of the chandelier makes the Volt work even with lower room heights.
